As the face-off between members of the 19 All Progressive Congress (APC) lawmakers in Ekiti State House of Assembly and the state governor,Mr Ayo Fayose rages,the factional Speaker of the Assembly,Hon Dele Olugbemi has asked the state Chief Judge,Justice Ayodeji Daramola to henceforth disregard any letter,resolutions, proceedings or process emanating from Dr Adewale Omirin or any other person impersonating his office ,saying Omirin has been impeached as the Speaker of the House since last year November.
Olugbemi who was Speaking at a press conference which has in attendance the Clerk of the House and the remaining six PDP lawmakers loyal to Fayose said he had not directed the CJ to constitute a panel that would probe Fayose and his Deputy ,Dr Kolapo Olubunmi of any allegation of gross misconduct and that Omirin was an impostor.
” For the avoidance of doubt ,I wish to categorically state here and now before you the gentlemen of the press and the whole world at large that the said letter directing the Chief Jugde of Ekiti State to constitute an investigative panel did not emanate from the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
“We never wrote any letter to the Chief Judge directing him to constitute an investigative panel, neither was the House involved in any impeachment proceedings against the Executive governor of our great State.
“In further refutation of the ongoing brigandage, I wish to state that the former Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin was duly removed as the speaker of the Ekiti State house of Assembly on the 29th day November, 2014 and his removal paved the way for my legislative emergence as the new speaker of the Ekiti state House of Assembly.
“In prove of my incumbency and control of the Assembly, I have here present with me; the clerk of Ekiti state House of Assembly without whom no legitimate sitting of the house can take place; I also have here present, the Sergeant-At-Arms and the entire retinue of the staff of the state house of assembly and the Mace of the house.
Olugbemi stated that all legitimate session of the House takes place only inside the hallowed chambers of House of Assembly, stressing that any other purported sitting of the House at any other location outside the hallowed chamberof the house of assembly should be regarded as” null and void and of no effect whatsoever.
” This is more so when such sittings purportedly took place without the principal officers here present with me now.
“Accordingly, I have by my said letter advised the chief judge of Ekiti State judiciary, honourable justicde Ayo Daramola to discountenance all letters, resolutions, proceedings or process emanating from Dr Adewale Omirin or any other person impersonating my person por my office.
He said he has copied the Chief Justice of Nigeria,the Director of Department of the State Services and the commissioner of police so that they can jointly assist with the apprehension of this impostor and his cohorts before they cause further breakdown of law,order and further havoc on Ekiti State and its people, he said.
