SO TRUE! Here Are The 5 Things That Happen When You Graduate With A Poor CGPA

I’ve seen many reasons adduced by several individuals why grades do not matter or are less important in determining future successes. I do think the influence of grades has been understated.

No doubt, grades can be a poor way to determine someone’s success or better still, measure an individual’s self-worth. Your success in life or otherwise may not be determined by how excellent your grades are. It probably isn’t going to make you successful or unsuccessful.

However, grades are an instant image of you at any point in time. Grades are the foremost tools schools use to measure it’s students abilities. This means it will give a huge initial judgement about you, which transcends beyond the academic environment.

If you think grades don’t matter, ask that friend who missed that fully paid scholarship by graduating with a third class. Grades matter if you desire to get that competitive job where employers look at CGPA. As a fresh graduate, grades will matter until you get something more compelling to sell yourself.

If you desire career progression in the academics, bad grades will ground you.

It is a fact that majority of people with low grades are usually defaulters when it comes to self-discipline, hard work, diligence, and planning skill, to mention but a few. All of these failings might act in limiting the success of these individuals (with poor grades) after graduation.

Good grades give you a head start, and an added advantage going forward. The world is moving at a fast pace, too busy in most cases to give you an opportunity to disprove your poor grades. Therefore they go by the numbers (grades) in assessing you. You probably won’t get a chance to prove your competence.

And yes, Not everyone will be an entrepreneur or succeed as one. Not everyone will have giraffe legs (know somebody that knows somebody in that establishment). Not everyone will/can work in the Nigerian civil service (where anything goes).

Haven stated that, here are 5 things that happen when you graduate with a low grade:

1. You close important doors: some doors when closed can never be opened again. How sad! Whatever opportunities, big or small, there are outside that door eludes you forever.

If you settled for less and got low grades due to laziness and nonchalant attitude towards book work, you effectively closed all doors requiring higher grades! A graduate with a pass or a third class automatically rules him/herself out of certain job opportunities! I need not mention these jobs, you know them.

2. Fewer choices: this is similar to the above. You end up with less choice if you graduate with a poor CGPA. why? Windows are smaller than doors! Less career advancement options, less job option, and less pay. You’ll have to settle for less.

3. Vices will appeal to you: I mean no disrespect to those with poor grades. However, social vices such as gambling, drunkenness, and others I choose not to mention will appeal to you. Anything just to dampen the disappointment of wasted years. However, it all ends in more disappointment for those not willing to get it right the right way.

4. Battered esteem: poor grades will batter your esteem. You will always avoid public discussions that will warrant a mention or display of your grade status either by you or others.

Can you comfortably put your pass degree qualification on a CV? Never! Deflated ego, inferiority, and other similar words will describe your situation.
Only a few (mentally strong) will refuse to be downcast and laid-back by letting grades get in their way to achieving success. The greater majority wallows in regret for years.

5. Delays in career progression: if you graduate with a third class, you’ll need a PGD to move forward. If it’s a pass, you’re probably stuck/grounded. In the academics, grades are prioritised, and it’ll remain so for a long time.

It is, therefore important that you begin to answer questions such as where you desire to be in the next five years, what steps to take to get there and what doors you need to go through. The earlier these questions are answered, the more doors you’ll have access to, and go through.

To make it big, you either have to be the best at what you are doing (non academic activity) or follow the conventional easier path – good grades.

Choose the doors to open and don’t let life choose for you because it might be a far cry from that which you desired.

Grades do matter a lot.

Common Vocabulary Mistakes That We Make And Their Corrections.

Hi guys,

As a Nigerian i can’t help but notice how we tend to overlook nuances in our vocabulary. Today i will be discussing the differences between Sight, Site and Cite. As you would have noticed, the aforementioned words are homophones.

1. Sight: This directly refers to the ability to a person to see as a verb (action) e.g tell me when you sight seun. As a noun, it means the power/ faculty of seeing e.g a snake’s sight is poor in dim light.

2. Site: A site is a geographical location/ point of the earth e.g the proposed site of an airport.

3. Cite: to quote or mention a book/ journal/ document (especially an authority on a subject) to support an argument or a theory e.g he cited the work of Albert Einstein to support his claim

Now that we know the differences and contexts within which such words should be used, can we go into the world and educate others?

Thanks for your time, kindly comment below the article if you found it helpful.

“Sade” By Adekunle Gold Vs “Sade” By Mayorkun Which Do You Still Prefer?

Now that Nigerian artistes have started professing love to SADE, does it mean that Caro has finally got married? #LOL!!

As we all know Adekunle Gold started this Sade thing before DMW act Mayorkun took it up and released a love inspired pop anthem titled Sade again.

Meanwhile, Adekunle Gold’s Sade came out as a big hit that gave the former YBNL star a big break after its was released in December 2014. So, it is safe to conclude that SADE was Adekunle Gold’s ORENTE before Baba God PICK UP his call. #LOL!!

While we are still enjoying Sade by Adekunle Gold, the famous Eleko crooner, Mayorkun released his own version of Sade about two months ago which was a fusion afro-pop and highlife. As produced by masterkraft, the creative effort of Mayorkun on the song SADE also won the heart of many music lovers.

No doubt, Adekunle Gold and Mayorkun’s SADE are both amazing afrobeat melodies, laced with humour while delivered in a sweet mix of yoruba and pidgin.

But the million dollar question is, do you think Mayorkun’s version of SADE is as impressive as that of Adekunle Gold?

Court orders forfeiture of N449m found in Lagos shop to FG

Justice Rilwan Aikawa of the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of the sum of N449,597,000 found in an abandoned Bureau de Change shop in Victoria Island, Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC on April 8th.

Justice Aikawa gave the order for permanent forfeiture after no one came forward to claim ownership of the money.

The judge had on April 19th granted an order for the interim forfeiture of the money pending when anyone would come forward to claim it. EFCC hand approached the court for an order for the forfeiture of the money after a respondent in the case, Mohammed Tauheed, failed to come forward to claim the money. Counsel for the EFCC, Idris Mohammed, told the judge that the interim order of April 19 had been advertised in the newspaper on May 11, so as to bring the case to the notice of Tauheed any interested party.

However neither Tauheed nor any other person come forward to claim the money. Delivering judgment on the application for permanent forfeiture, Justice Aikawa said “This court ordered, among others, the respondent (Tauheed) and any other interested party to show cause, within 14 days, why the interim forfeiture of N449,597,000 should not be made final. As far as my record shows, neither the respondent nor any other interested party has filed any affidavit or any other process to show cause why the interim order should not be made final.

In the instant case, the respondent has, additionally, not filed any process in response to the motion on notice. In the circumstances, I have no option but to grant the application as prayed. Accordingly, I hereby ordered that the sum of N449,597,000 found in possession of the respondent, which sum is reasonably suspected to be proceeds of an unlawful activity, be finally forfeited to the Federal Government.”

Mother successfully donates womb to her daughter in India’s first womb transfer

A 43-year-old mother has successfully donated her womb to her 21-year-old daughter, who was born without a uterus, with the hopes that her child can experience childbirth. The surgery was the first of its kind in India and was performed by a team of doctors at Pune’s Galaxy Care Hospital in the city of Pune in south-west India.

Ther womb transfer took place yesterday, led by the hospital’s medical director, Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar. It lasted for nine and a half hours in total and both mother and daughter are fine and in recovery. The 21-year-old will have to wait for one year to give her body enough time to heal and adjust to the new uterus before she considers trying to get pregnant via in-vitro fertilization (IVF). She is currently under observation and will be kept in Intensive Care Unit for some days

“The patient was born without a uterus and she wanted to have her own baby and was not ready for adoption or surrogacy. Since they knew about the uterus transplant, they approached us and accepted the surgery option,” Dr Shailesh Puntambekar said. “Fortunately, her mother was found to be a medically suitable uterus donor for her.”

He added: “The procedure is difficult because multiple large arteries are to be joined there, and veins that are small and short. It is technically very tough.”

According to Dr. Mats Brännström, a professor of obstetrics and gynaecology at Sweden’s University of Gothenburg, only six babies have ever been delivered from a uterus transplant – two from the same mother. It remains to be seen whether India’s first transplant will result in a birth though Dr. Puntambekar said he felt “relaxed and confident” that it will happen for his patient.
