FUNAAB Gets Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Accreditation
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has presented a certificate of accreditation to the University. With the feat, FUNAAB has become the first and only federal university in Nigeria to be ACCA-certified. Speaking on the procedure, which led to the accreditation, the Acting Head, Department of Accounting, Dr. Sunday Kajola, disclosed that over a year ago, representatives of ACCA Nigeria visited the Department for possible collaboration in the training of professional accountants and students. However, before the recognition could be given to the institution, the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Accounting programme had to be evaluated by the ACCA head office in the United Kingdom. According to him, the programme’s structure and past examination question papers were submitted for the evaluation exercise and had turned out successful, which had resulted into the certification being given to the University. Highlighting the benefits of the certification and collaboration, Dr. Kajola disclosed that ACCA Certificate had global acceptability, as holders of the certificate can practice as accountants anywhere in the world while the University would be listed among the international affiliated institutions of ACCA, which comes with an added premium over other institutions in Nigeria, running the accountancy programme. The Department, through the Association’s corporate social responsibilities to its affiliated institutions, could benefit from the provision of study texts, modern teaching aids, computer hardware, accounting software, exchange programmes, workshops and training of accounting lecturers. Presenting the certificate, the ACCA Education and Learning Manager (Nigeria), Mr. Victor Ayoola, lauded the curriculum content of the Department of Accounting, which he said cumulated in the international accounting body, accrediting the Department and approving a waiver of seven courses out of the 14 courses to be taken by students for the ACCA professional certification. He stated that seven-course waiver was unusual at first attempt, adding that FUNAAB was the first University in Nigeria to get seven exemptions, at its very first attempt. According to him, ACCA, which was established in 1904, had over 198,000 fully qualified members and 486,000 students worldwide, noting that “ACCA members are among the world’s best-qualified and most highly sought-after accountants and can work in every sector you can imagine”. The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ololade Enikuomehin, who was represented at the occasion by the Dean, College of Management Sciences (COLMAS), Professor Akeem Salami, acknowledged the ACCA accreditation, which he said was an indication of the University’s commitment to producing competitive and industry-ready graduates in line with its vision while assured the ACCA team that the University would not water down on its standards, but would be open to innovations.
UNN Update – How To Apply For UNN 2017/2018 Hostel Accommodation Registration Begins
This is to inform all (new and returning) students of University Of Nigeria, Nsukka that the management has announced the commencement of accommodation for 2017/2018 academic session. All students should take note of the following important information with regards to student accommodation for the 2017/18 session: Important Information 1. The University has limited spaces for student accommodation. 2. The accommodation is allocated on a first come, first serve basis. 3. First Year and final year students are given high priority during allocation. 4. First years are allocated 40% of the total accommodation, final years 30% while others and special needs are allocated 30%. 5. All Nursing Mothers must apply for accommodation online and must notify the authorities early. (You are permitted to stay alone in a room or be two persons in a room). 6. The following are highly prohibited and will attract eviction from the hostel: • Squatting of any kind. • Late return to the hostel at night. • Smoking. • Drinking of Alcohol. • Stealing. • Fighting and quarrelling. • Use of hotplates, electric boiling ring, refrigerator, gas cooker and so on. • Use of generator sets. • Defecating and bathing at undesignated places. • Pouring of water in undesignated places. • Defacing of Hostel walls by posting of bills, posters and any document. 7. Only students who have specifically met the following will be qualified for hostel accommodation: • Paid all school fees till date. • Registered all courses online till date. • Possess the University ID card or have been successfully captured. • Possess and use the University student email address. 8. All hostel accommodation invoices are valid for only three days after generation. (Any student who fails to pay online within the three day period will forfeit the allocation). 9. All Rev Sisters are to follow the authorised process for accommodation. 10. Physically challenged students must also generate invoice and proceed to make payments. Application Procedure 1. Log in to the UNN Portal- http://ift.tt/1rzJz7K 2. Enter your username and password (Your username is your Registration Number for old students and JAMB registration number for new students). 3. Click on Hostel Allocation. 4. Click on Apply for Bed space (Select Hostel and Room No) 5. Click on Apply. 6. Print the Invoice carrying your RRR number and proceed to the bank or make payment using your ATM Card 7. Return to the portal and Click on Hostel Allocation. 8. Click on pay for your hostel and enter your Remita Retrieval Reference number. 9. Submit and print Receipt.
Important Notice – Auchi Poly 2017/2018 Acceptance Fee Payment & Registration Procedure Out
This is to inform all new and returning students [ND & HND] of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi that the management has released the procedure for online Acceptance Fee Payment and Registration for 2017/2018 academic session. PROCEDURE FOR ONLINE ACCEPTANCE & REGISTRATION 2017/18 ACADEMIC SESSION PART 1: CLEARANCE/ACCEPTANCE OF ADMISSION 1. New students check their admission status on the polytechnic website ( auchipoly.edu.ng ) from PDF links. This will enable students/parents to check their status from any part of the world and not necessarily travel down to Auchi to check the admission lists on the board. 2. Having been admitted, students visit the department where they have been admitted with all their credentials for physical clearance. 3. They obtain an Eligibility form from the department, fill the form and ensure it is duly signed/stamped by the HOD or his/her representative who certifies that the student is cleared or not cleared. This check point is to ensure that no ineligible student pays Administrative charges as the school will not refund such payments. 4. The Eligibility form is then submitted to MIS for their details to be uploaded/ updated into the eligible online admission list. 5. Students then Login to the portal to accept their admission using their Auchi Polytechnic application number (e.g EEE/ND1718/99999 OR EEE/HND1718/99999) as their username and password 6. For new HND students, All Auchi Polytechnic ND returnees MUST ensure they type the last 5 digits of their ND matno when requested during the acceptance stage. If any matno clashing challenge is encountered, such a student should report to MIS Directorate. 7. Having accepted the admission offer online, the students are expected to print out their Acceptance Form that carries their unique matriculation number. Students must ensure that their matno tallies with their department. If not sure they can see the HOD or MIS. 8. Also students are to ensure they print out copies of their Notification of Admission (Admission Letter). PART 2: PAYMENT OF ADMIN CHARGES AND ACCEPTANCE FEE 1. Login to the portal ( auchipoly-online.com ) now with your matriculation number and signup as a new user 2. Click Generate RRR payment invoice (Remita Reference Number) that will carry both acceptance fee and administrative charges together 3. Take the RRR invoice to any bank and make payments or pay via the Internet (mobile banking) into Auchi Polytechnic TSA (Treasury Single Account). 4. The bank will give the student an e-receipt that must be kept safely. Note that NO PAYMENTS ARE DONE THROUGH WWW.REMITA.NET. Any student who makes payments there CANNOT PROCEED with Online Registration. PART 3: ONLINE COURSE REGISTRATION (Old and New Students) 1. Login with your matriculation number again and verify if Remita has authorised your payment. 2. On the student’s portal page that is opened Click on Register for 2017/18 session 3. Complete the Course Registration form with all necessary and correct details 4. Click Submit and print out 2 copies of the Course Registration form.
