The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved by the establishment of the Lagos State University (LASU) Open and Distance Learning and Research Institute (ODLRI).  The approval came after a recent visit by the Universities Regulatory Body to assess the facilities of the Institute at the Main Campus of the University in Ojo. Mrs Victoria A. Samson (M.D. Bovas Filling Stations) On Behalf Of All Residents Of Our Dear Country Nigeria Expresses Gratitude

Mrs Victoria A. Samson (M.D. Bovas Filling Stations). On behalf of all residents of our dear country Nigeria, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the management and staff of BOVAS FILLING STATION. The woman behind the smile of an average Nigerian today who couldn’t afford N500 per litre black market. All Bovas filling stations as I write sells fuel at N143 per litre across Nigeria. (Still less than the official N145 maximum fixed by government) Madam Victoria A. Samson has proven severely for years and of course is still proving that indeed Nigeria still has some God fearing people who are not dubious, egocentric, greedy and money drunk. This woman believes that everything in this life will end here. She believes there’s somewhere beyond this existence. A virtuous woman. Friend of the masses. Friend of the downtrodden, friend of the poorest of the poor. A woman who differentiated herself distinctively by her doings, attitude and composure. Despite several victimization from some of her colleagues in the petroleum industry, this woman has always remained herself. It’s not new. She has been known like that for years. (Must See) Read And Avoid Failure Because Failure Is Only Inevitable – 6 Reasons You May Fail JAMB 2018/2019

I will be Listing Out 6 reasons you will likely fail Jamb This year And Why you should avoid them: 1. Inability To pick The Right Course: I once gave a list here, on courses You May regret picking In Jamb 2018, most people Didn’t Understand the purpose Of the post, I Still Stand on my views though. Failure is almost inevitable when you pick the wrong course let me tell you a story. ”WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO REGISTER FOR JAMB,YEARS BACK THERE WAS A LOT OF PRESSURE ON ME TO PICK MEDICINE AND SURGERY,BUT KNOWING WITHIN MYSELF OF MY MATHEMATICAL PROWESS AND MY DISLIKE FOR BIOLOGY AND TO SOME EXTENT CHEMISTRY. I STOOD MY GROUND AND PICKED MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, MY OTHER FRIEND WENT AHEAD AND PICKED A COURSE HE WASN’T GOOD AT. HENCE,THERE WAS NO ZEAL TO READ/STUDY,HE FAILED IN WHAT I CALL ”SUPER FAILING COLORS” The truth is once you are living another person’s dream, you are living to fail. You can still avoid this by still reading hard even though you picked the wrong course immediately J.A.M.B releases change of course and institution form make sure you get it. 2. Procrastination Procrastination is a poison of the mind that kills hard-work and dreams. Some people are still saying Its a month or two to jamb Examinations, therefore they still have-time To prepare. I reserve my pity for such people as failure is sure for them. There is a saying that goes like this “Everyday spent procrastinating is another day spent worrying about that thing, do it now and move on with your life”, Procrastination eventually results regrets. 3. Not Using Your Jamb Syllabus Every year there is a new syllabus released by J.A.M.B. According to research students who follow their jamb syllabus score 250 and above in jamb exams . Follow the syllabus, it’s meant to guide you. 4. Poor Study Methods Some people will keep on writing J.A.M.B till their mates have gone and graduated from university, simply because they fail to study properly. You need an effective study method. Over two million students registered For Jamb this year and if you don’t have a strategy worth challenging to them,Failure is your goal. There is a saying that by not planing to pass, you are planning to fail . 5. Carrying JAMB expos And Depending On Runs Jamb Over the years have advanced technologically to curb examination malpractice, most centers now have hidden camera’s monitoring you, if you even ask a question or turn your head or bring out “chocs” You will be caught by the jamb officials, it is Advisable to not engage in Malpractice . Depending On Runs: Some students have actually studied hard, I mean really hard. But at the dying moments of preparations decide to pay one runs guy to assist them with answers as a back up plan. This shows low self esteem in one’s self, and I can tell you such student is destined for failure, because as little as you rely on it,you will still lose focus and zeal to read. 6. Avoid Setting Low Scores For Yourself Set high scores like scoring 280+ and above in J.A.M.B, don’t go below that, if you set scores like 200 or 220, you won’t have the ‘ginga’ and zeal to read, it means you either lazy or not serious with coming out in flying colors in J.A.M.B. But me scoring below 220, 230 does not guarantee you admission in any top university in Nigeria but scoring 280 and above guarantees you admission in any top university in Nigeria even though you wouldn’t necessary be given the course you applied for. Never aim for the sky but aim for the moon, so even though you fall;you will land on the sky. Conclusion Dear friends, read this post very well if possible twice. I advise you to work hard until the lamp light of your study table becomes spotlight of stage. It may be hard but focus on studying, believe me its going to be worth it. Your sleepless nights will never be in vain if you study wisely and thoroughly.

If You Have Plan On Studying Computer Science In Nigeria University? Here Are The Top 12 Universities To Pick

If Computer Science is the course you choose to study in the university, then you’ve got to choose the university that best offers the program. Unlike Law and Medicine, there is no professional body that rates the study of Computer Science in Nigerian Universities, but lecturers with years of experience in both field and lecture rooms can authoritatively recommend the best school to study this course for admission seekers. Dr Roberts Charles, who is a Senior Lecturer of Computer Science at the University of Ibadan is one of such authorities. The lecturer who has been teaching the course for 17 years at the premier University identified 12 universities that have proved to be very good at teaching the course. Dr Roberts said he drew his conclusions based on his interactions with the graduates of the schools who came for master’s program at the University of Ibadan. Here are the Universities he recommends for admission seekers who want to study computer Science: University of Ibadan Federal University of Technology, Akure Federal University of Technology, Minna Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife University of Calabar (UNICAL) University of Benin, (UNIBEN) Covenant University, Ota Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) Kwara State University, (KWASU) Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho Ekiti State University (EKSU) University of Lagos, Akoka Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The lecturer however blamed incompetent lecturers in the universities for the half baked computer science graduates in the country. NOTE: Most Computer Science students in Nigerian Universities today are not practical oriented and it is because they don’t have lecturers that are very competent and that is a problem. When the lecturer is not competent, the students too won’t be confident in themselves.”

Having Problems With WAEC GCE? Here Are The 5 Quick And Easy Tips To Pass WAEC-GCE 2018/2019 With Ease

We shall be exploring new ways on how you can pass waec gce 2018 with fantastic scores with intensive 3 weeks reading. By now we want to assume, you have been reading before now even if you haven’t this article is for you. This article is also important for those sitting for jamb. 5.Don,t Be Afraid Try your best to cancel every form of fears in Your mind:With fear in you, everything you read will be a waste. You must have the belief that you can come out with a fantastic score in your waec-gce. Let me tell you something “the fear of WAEC is one of the reasons why students fail the exam. You have to remain confident in yourself and ability to pass the exam” 4.Increase you reading time Now is the time to increase the rate at which you read,Don’t say you have been reading all these while its now time for you to rest.If you have been reading for 4 hours before increase it to 7 hours. You can split the seven hours by studying text books for 3 hours in the morning and solving questions for the remaining 4 hours In the evening. Know the period that suits you the most if its late at night, morning or afternoon.I tell you do not slow down on your readings ,You are doing your self a big favor with your sleepless nights. Who Knows if its this moment what you have been tyrying to understand will finally be understood. You have a lots of time to rest after the exams. 3.Don’t Just read Study past questions-Read with sense Pick a year for example you can say you want to solve from year 2010-2017,its not too hard for you to do ,try to solve it thrice before the exams day. Don’t Just solve questions, solve questions relevant to the present syllabus, nothing outside of waec syllabus comes out in waec exams. I tell you WAEC are master repeaters of questions, Solving past questions will open your eyes to noticing some questions that are always repeated.Take note of those Questions as they are likely to be repeated. 2.Time Yourself Don’t Just solve questions, while solving set a time limit. For Subjects like chemistry, physics and mathematics when solving them you can set half the time limit that will be given to you in the Exam hall. Lets say you will be given 2 hrs, deduct 1 hour when solving questions before the exams date,so as to improve your speed limit. Don’t be deceived speed matters in all exams.Im not saying you should rush yourself speedily am just saying be fast so you can cross-check what you have done from the scratch i.e the begining of your works. 1.Don’t Folow the crowd There is a popular saying even during my days as a student in secondary school, which goes like this “you can not pass waec on your own”. I tell you that that is a lie from the pits of hell,You don’t need to bribe anyone to pass you just need to be very serious at the dying moments which is “Now”. Don’t put it in your mind that you have to bribe someone for answers as this will slow down your reading and seriousness level. Avoid all the online scams telling you to send recharge cards or money in order to get questions they are all frauds. Conclusion: It is Our greatest desires you excel in Your Exams,he doesn’t matter how long you have been writing Waec whats important is you have been given another chance. One more thing never neglect Studying English language and Mathematics, they need a large commitment as your other courses,as you know without a Credit you can’t study any relevant course In the university or other tertiary institutions

“New year New Me” Always The Common Line Most People Use, See 7 Types Of Friends To Avoid If You Want To Succeed In 2018

If you wish to know the types of friends to avoid, then you need to read this. “New year new me” always the common line for most people in the new year, but something never changes, and those are the type of friends most of us keep. “Should I just dump my friend for no reason?” that is the question most people ask. I tell you, if they fall into the category of friends in this my post, you shouldn’t just dump them – you can just kick them out. We are a subtle reflection of the type of friends we keep and if nothing is done, we just end up mirroring their traits. There are several types of friends to avoid in this New Year if you want to succeed, and I believe that you would end up seeing reasons for me. 1. The “Chicken Little” The 2005 award-winning movie was characterized by an infamous chicken that was known for always screaming foul of everything. The chicken ‘ruined its reputation by giving out false predictions and analysis. At every instance, he felt that the sky was really going to fall. If you have a friend who discourages you from taking action; who gives a negative expert prediction as to why an investment is bad, a business won’t succeed, why you shouldn’t take risks, how your career would get stalled because of your action, these are the types of friends to avoid this year. Having a “chicken little” as a friend will make you believe the sky would fall by taking actions in life. They would want to make you wait till the coast is clear – which may never be. 2. The Praise Singer Friends who never question your decision or motive when you confide in them should be the type friends to avoid if you really want to be successful. Having friends who are analytical and critical in reasoning is a plus. The ones who always sing your praises either to remain in your good books or for any form of reward should be discarded ASAP. 3. The ‘Poverty Minded’ Friend Friends like these believe that making money is reserved for some special kind of people. They should be among the type of friends to avoid if you want to succeed. The ‘art of becoming successful’ is alien to them. It seems like speaking Latin to a native English speaker. They are just happy with the way they survive, and won’t ‘stress’ themselves out with the hustle of making money. They have the energy, but they just don’t believe that making money or becoming successful is possible. 4. The Lazy Pug They don’t believe in hard work. All they want is the shortest cut to success. They aren’t prepared to take upon any project and make it a success. They always discourage you from working so hard. “Don’t work yourself to death” is their daily anthem to you. You should avoid this kind of friends. 5. The Dreamer They believe they are gonna end up rich, but they have no plans to accomplish it. Plans, strategies, and efforts aren’t part of their life schedules. They keep records of the number of cars to buy, houses to build, and places to spend their fictitious holidays. If you keep such a friend, you might end up becoming a day-dreamer also. These are the kind of friends to avoid if you want to succeed in life. 6. The Complainer This type of friend complains literally about everything – his shoes, clothes, boss, car, even air. When things aren’t going as planned, he nags and leaves everyone around depressed. 7. The Rigid Mind This type of friends will always want to win in every argument. They see any idea that doesn’t come from them as irrelevant. Even when they agree reluctantly, they will reach any length to frustrate the idea just to prove their initial point. Friends like these are toxic, and they should be among the types of friends to avoid in 2018. I wrote just 6, and you should join the conversation by adding yours in the comment section.

Did You Give Up Easily On Something That Would Have Changed Your Life, See The Winning Tips: 5 Mindsets Every Graduate Must Have In 2018

Did you miss something? Did everything go as planned? Was there something you could have done better? Did you give up easily on something that would have been a life changer? Now is the perfect time to review exactly how everything went and draw up plans that would project you in the coming year. Is there a better mirror to use in the assessment? Yea! “The Wolf of Wall Street” The movie pictured the life of Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who rose to riches by selling crappy penny stocks as a Wall Street broker. He eventually lost all the money, riches, power that he had, and was sent to jail for over 3 years. Nowadays he is a Sales teacher, and the movie ended up making him a superstar. Was the movie morally grounded? No!!! But was there something to learn from the life of this crook turned hero? Let’s have a look at the mindsets every graduate should have and learn from the life of Jordan Belfort and his Wall Street Life. Sometimes you should stoop to conquer This should be one of the mindsets every graduate should have. Nobody wants to regress at any point in life. Just like every graduate out there, Jordan wanted to become a millionaire as fast as possible, and then he decided to work in a place (Wall Street) that would help him achieve that dream faster. His first day as a professional was when the stock market crashed. Selling Blue-chip stocks at Wall Street was far easier as a professional as compared to selling penny stocks. Moving out of Wall Street to meet junkies who sell Penny stocks would be considered demotion to some other peeps, but In the case of Jordan, it wasn’t. He stooped down to zero and jumped to a very high altitude (Success) You should have like-minded Friends If you are success hungry and your friends are loafers, then things might not work out for you. This is an example of showing me your friend and I tell you who you are. It is either you bring them up to your level like Jordan Belfort did, or you discard them as fast as possible. Learn the art of communication Communication skill is highly imperative. From pitching your ideas to friends and investors, selling yourself to potential employers, to convincing people to buy your point of view, learning the art of communication is a must. To succeed in life generally, the art of effective communication is one of the mindsets every graduate should have. Always learn to mind your own business It wasn’t hard for Jordan to leave the Penny stock store and set up his own after a while. This was because he learnt that he needed to mind his own business. You will never become a millionaire minding someone else’s business. I am not asking you to leave your job immediately, but you should prepare the foundations as fast as possible. There should always be a plan B Jordan was indicted by the US government for stock fraud and was sent to jail for over 3 years. He had lost everything he had; Family, Power, and Money. He came out of jail a nobody. But was he going to wind down just like that? How he quickly switched from being a stockbroker to becoming one of the best sales tutors in the world isn’t magic. It is all about having a Plan B. That is one of the mindsets every graduate should have and follow up on. There should always be a plan B! Teaching sales might not make him rich as he was before, but it has gotten him enough to pay up most of his debts. Till we meet again, do you think you can “Sell me this pen” and make me buy it? Comment below! Bye for now.

2018 New Year Resolution Might Not Work But, This 5 Ways To Control Your Spending & Improve Your Finances Will Definitely Help You

You probably spent a lot during the festive period. We are in the New Year, it becomes a necessity for you to control your expenses because of the December expenses. Hence, it’s time to start thinking about how to put a lid on your spending. Here are the 5 ways to control your spending & improve your finances. 1. Prepare a budget You already know this. But we have to keep reiterating as a reminder. Setting up a budget is the first step towards financial order. You can download a budgeting app to keep track of your income and expenses. Do not hesitate to dedicate a few days to this. 2. Set limits for total holiday spending Give your debit card and your mind a holiday by limiting what you buy to what can safely come out of your bank account. Use the opportunity to create or get your budget into shape, and use it to decide how much money you can afford to spend. 3. Budget based on your own finances A budget is key to controlled spending. Hence, budget based on the money you earn. This will prevent you from over-budgeting. For example, if you earn N50,000, your budget should not shoot past this amount. 4. Adopt an improved spending habit Try to embrace or develop a new spending habit. For example, for every naira you spend on gifts, you could find a way to deduct that amount from your regular spending. Around the holidays, you can use those savings to buy presents. So, planning ahead is very important. 5. Organise group volunteering parties Your friends probably struggle with overspending as much as you do over the holidays. Give them the relief of forgoing buying gifts for you by organising a group volunteer party where everyone brings something edible to the table.

Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, OAU Begin Lectures, Urges Students To Prepare For Examination After 1 Month Closure

A month after Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife was forced to close due to the strike by non-teaching workers embarked upon in December, lectures officially began in the institution on Friday. A student of the institution, Demola Ayinde said, “CHM102 held today and were told to start preparing for exam. Exam may be starting this month according to my lecturer. ” Another student who identified herself as Bimbo said: “I attended Yoruba class today.” The Dean of Student Affairs, Isiska Aransi confirmed to newsmen on Friday that the second-semester examination for 2016/2017 session would begin on January 29, following approval of the senate. “The calendar has been reviewed,” he said. As at the time of filing this report, electricity and water supplies had been restored to halls of residence. Both the health centre and the library opened. Before Friday, these services had been cut by the striking non-teaching workers. It is not immediately how the management was able to restore the services, after the Non-Academic Staff Union, the body of workers responsible for them, vowed not to resume work unless their grievances over the sharing of the earned allowances are addressed.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has fixed March 9th to 17th for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME. The Registrar of the board, Ishaq Oloyede, said this at a meeting with stakeholders on Tuesday. The theme of the meeting is “Strategic planning on the conduct of the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation.” Mr. Oloyede said the mock examination initially scheduled to hold between January 22 and 24 has been moved to the first week in February due to the ongoing strike by non-teaching staff of universities. “We are unable to access our CBT centres because most of them are in the universities and non teaching staff are on strike,” he said. “Regarding the sale of forms, about 10 per cent of the expected candidates have registered, the number of candidates that have registered now is about 283,319,” he said. The registrar said the prohibition of materials is applicable to candidates, supervisors and examiners. “No candidates, examiners, invigilators will be allowed to enter the examination hall with wrist watches, pencils except HB pencils …and cameras” he said.
