Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State, FUOTUOKE 2017/2018 School Fees Schedule For New And Returning Students

This is to inform the general public especially students of Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State both new and returning students that the management has released the approved school fees schedule for 2017/2018 academic session. The breakdown of the school fees schedule is available on the image below. FUOTUOKE 2017/2018 School Fees Schedule ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1. All new students (Freshmen) must stay in the hostel, unless contra-indicated by a Medical Doctor and or subject to availability of space. 2. Students must pay full applicable fees by end of Registration Period of academic year,else all registration privileges will be withdrawn for the academic year. 3. Accommodation (N10,000.00 per student) is not included in the school fee schedule above. 4. All fees paid are not refundable. 5. Returning Students must pay all outstanding fees (Prior Session and Current Session) before Registration for the new Academic Session. 6. School Fees paid after 8 Weeks from resumption date shall attract the payment of additional late registration fee.

Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State: FUOTUOKE List of De-Registered Students Over Non-Payment of School Fees

This is to inform all students of Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State that the management has released the list of de-registered students over non payment of school fees. Senate at its 46th Meeting held on Monday November 27, 2017 considered the issue of non-payment of school fees and decided that students who have failed to pay their school fees be de-registered from the University. Accordingly, the students whose names appear below are by this memo de-registered from the University for their continued failure to pay their school fees. Christopher University, UNICHRIS Gets NUC Accreditation for B.Sc. in Mass Communication and International Relations

National Universities Commission (NUC) grants approval to Christopher University to mount B.Sc. programme in Mass Communication and International Relations. The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted Christopher University approval to run Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) programmes in Mass Communication and International Relations. This was communicated to the University on Friday 24th November, 2017 through the office of the Director, Academic Standard, National Universities Commission – Dr. G. B Kumo. Dr. G. B Kumo in his words wrote “I am directed to inform you that Management Committee together with some visiting Professors during its 2-day meeting held on 16th and 17th November, 2017 considered and approved the establishment of the full-time mode of the following undergraduate academic programme(s) to be run on the Main Campus of the University, effective from 2017/2018 academic session: 1. International Relations, B. Sc. 2. Mass Communication, B. Sc” The addition of these two programmes has increased the total number of programmes offered in Christopher University to 14. Applications are welcomed from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Cross River University Of Technology Second and Supplementary Admission Screening for 2017/2018 academic session. Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP Calls Off 15-Day-Old Nationwide Strike

Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP has suspended its 15-day nationwide strike following the series of meetings held between the leadership of the union and the Federal Government. President of ASUP, Usman Yusuf Dutse, disclosed this on Wednesday during the union’s 14th national delegates conference held at the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi. The union has previously met with officials and ministries of education and labour, alongside the National Salaries and Wages Commission, Budget office of the federation, office of Head of Civil service and office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. “While we are not unawares of the penchant of Government over the years to wilfully renege on agreements of this nature with labour unions including ours, it is the considered view of our nation that the contents of this MoS be given chance of implementation particularly as there is a mechanism for monitoring and evaluation embedded in the MoS,” the ASUP President, said. “Our union’s congress has been fully briefed on these developments and I am therefore to communicate the decision of our union to suspend the 15 days old strike action of our union effective Wednesday, 28th November, 2017.” Dutse added that in arriving at the decision to call off the strike, ASUP considered the impact of the action on the society, parents and students. He said: “We want to assure Nigerian public that our struggle shall continue to be focused on the survival of this vital sector and in the same vein express our gratitude to all well meaning Nigerians including members of the media and our members for the support and understanding during this period.”

Woman Kills Church Member With Her Car While Answering Phone Call In Isolo (Read Details)

A Nigerian woman by name Mrs. Obiageli Ezeanowiyi is in serious trouble after she reportedly killed her fellow church member in an accident while she was allegedly driving and receiving phone call. According to PM Express, Ezeanowiyi lost control of the car and killed the victim known as Madam Chichi on their way to church. The tragic incident took place at Jakande Estate junction at Okeafa, Isolo close to St. Peters Catholic Church where both were members and belonged to the Adoration Ministry organised by a popular Catholic priest. The suspect has been arrested and detained at the police station and she is now facing murder charge because of the manner the accident happened. It was gathered that the late Madam Chichi who ran a popular joint and lived at Isolo, was going for Sunday adoration service before the incident happened. The deceased was said to have got to Jakande junction and was trying to get another tricycle that will take her to the church. However, while she was still standing at the bus stop, Mrs. Obiageli who was driving her Nissan Pathfinder SUV ran into her and killed her instantly. Eyewitnesses at the scene of the incident alleged that Mrs. Obiageli was answering phone call while driving which made her to lose control and hit the woman while driving to the church. Meanwhile, her corpse has been taken to Isolo mortuary for autopsy report while Obiageli reported herself to the police who detained her at the police station. The Pathfinder SUV which Obiageli used to kill Chichi was also recovered and parked at the Ejigbo Police Station as exhibit. The suspect, Obiageli is still being detained at the Ejigbo police Station as police detectives prepare necessary papers to charge her to court for murder. However, members of the church, both relations and neighbours were seen around the station trying to find a peaceful solution to resolve the matter. The late Madam Chichi hailed from Mbano in Imo State and had three children before she died on Sunday.

President Buhari Did Not Order Us To Clear Salary Arrears – Governors

The 36 governors under the umbrella of Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, yesterday denied reports in some media, that President Muhammadu Buhari has given them matching order to pay workers their salary arrears before Christmas. There was a discordant tune between the Chairman of Progressive Governors Forum and governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State on whether President Buhari ordered that salary arrears should be paid before Christmas. While Okorocha had said the order from the President was to clear the salaries with the expected payment of 50 percent Paris Club balance, El-Rufai said the Paris Club refund was not enough to clear salary arrears especially for states that were owing as there was no additional money to be given to such states apart from their fair share of the refund. But the NGF in a statement signed by Abulrazque Barkindo, Head, media and public Affairs, said, “No mention of all workers arrears, was ever made, by President Muhammadu Buhari.” The statement quoted the President as saying, “For Nigerians without sources other than their salary, I am concerned that workers should be able to pay rent, school fees, buy drugs and take care of their families. I am so much concerned that people should have something to eat for Christmas.” It explained that “The governors had appealed to the president to once again authorize the Finance ministry and the other officials to hasten the payment of the remainder of the Paris and London Club loan refunds as they had factored the monies into their 2018 budgets. “President Muhammadu Buhari’s instruction that the money be paid before Christmas however draws its background from the series of delays in the previous disbursements to the states by the Finance Ministry, which by commission or omission had exacerbated and indeed increased the number of months that workers are owed salaries. “For example, the first bailout that President Buhari approved was not paid until October, four months after the president had given approval for the money to be paid. It was the same practice with the first tranche of the Paris-London Club repayment, which was approved in mid 2016 but took until December 2016 to hit the states’ accounts. “It is imperative to add that the Paris–London funds were legitimate funds of the states and not loans as several sources had thought. “Barring any such happenstances, however, governors, who are equally very worried about their workers’ plights, are ready to wipe away workers tears by paying their emoluments before Christmas.” The governors pledged to work assiduously towards ensuring that they make workers happy by paying their emoluments before the commencement of the Yuletide season. They hinged their pledge on the instruction by President Buhari that governors should be paid what was due to their states to ensure that workers spend Christmas with money in their pockets and a smile on their faces. Lagos Rice Said To Affect Sperm Count (Read How)

A damning allegation has been made about the celebrated Lake Rice in Lagos which has been reported to be detrimental to human health. The duo of award-winning agribusiness expert, Anita Okoro; and Special Adviser to Lagos State Government on Food Security, Mr. Ganiu Sanni, have expressed disparate opinions over the standards of Lake Rice, Punch reports. While Anita argued that Lake Rice needed improved processing, the Special Adviser countered that the rice was safe enough for consumption; adding that it does not cause male consumers to develop low sperm count. They both spoke at the fifth annual lecture organised by the Lagos State Polytechnic Alumni Association, entitled, ‘Agriculture and its value chain potentials: Challenges and way forward.’ The lecture, which held on Tuesday, had experts speak on the development of agriculture and rice processing in the country. Speaking on the title, ‘Rice processing, empowerment and safety,’ Anita explained that her research showed that the processing of Lake Rice was faulty. Anita, who is the initiator of ‘We_have_rice,’ said, ” Lake rice is actually chemical- and preservatives-free; but there is something that is wrong with the processing that you people (Lagos State Government) don’t know.” Narrating her experience in rice production business, she said, ” I was in Kebbi where I have my farm and went to a processing company dealing with rice, which I will not mention. I was there to research how they process Lake Rice. From my research, the rice needs to be well processed. I rest my case. Those handling it need to know how to identify a very good paddy. There is also a challenge with milling in Nigeria and that is because of inadequate equipment. The northerners do abuse us that we (those in South West) are not wise enough. The kind of rice they bring to us from other countries are not safe. They contain chemicals that cause low sperm count and it is also affecting us. It is better to take local rice that are well processed.” Responding, Sanni faulted Anita’s position on Lake Rice. He explained that the production of Lake Rice aided jobs creation and ensured food security. Sanni, who is the chairman of the discussion session, said, ” I cannot sit here and such a comment on Lake Rice will be made and I will not reply. Kebbi State having a large expanse of land and Lagos having the market, we collaborated. That was after we searched all the South Western states and found no major mill. The quality of rice given to us is not a bad one, as against the imported ones. Lake Rice is fresh, 100 percent natural, no additives, no chemical preservation. It doesn’t cause low sperm count. Instead, we are using it to generate thousands of jobs.”

Ekiti Begins Demolition Of Abandoned Houses

Ekiti State Government on Tuesday says it has begun demolition of structures considered to be posing high security threats to residents. The State Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Mrs. Funmilayo Ogun, said this while addressing journalists at the end of the first day of the exercise in Ado Ekiti. According to her, all abandoned houses providing shelter for all manners of criminals would be affected. She added that the state would also construct modern car parks so as to ease traffic congestion, especially in Ado Ekiti, the state capital. Ogun said government felt it was not enough to arrest drivers for parking along the roads and make them to pay fines without providing alternative parking spaces for them. According to her, the present administration in the state was determined to leave the state better than it met it, saying this gave rise to why it embarked on many legacy projects. The Commissioner who dispelled insinuations in some quarters that some of the projects, especially the first Flyover in the state, currently under construction in Ado Ekiti were misplaced priority, said the plan of the Governor Ayodele Fayose-led administration was not to limit scope of development to the present day alone, but to also strategise against the future by tackling some of its future infrastructure needs. ” It is ridiculous for some people to be criticising the governor for embarking on the flyover project because of what they perceived to be a waste or outright undesirability of such. The question we are also asking them is that: is it normal for any responsible government to wait till when the vehicular traffic of Ado Ekiti will become as congested as the scenario in Lagos before we will start thinking of constructing a flyover?”

Buhari Promise to settle unpaid state debts before Xmas

7 Undergraduates, NANS Leader Charged To Court For Murder

The leader of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Bayelsa State chapter, and seven other undergraduates have been arrested by the Bayelsa State Police Command for alleged murder of a student. The Bayelsa NANS leader, Perewari Benjamin, a 400-level student of the state-owned Niger Delta University, Amassoma, alongside his accomplices were arrested after a driver reported the case to operatives of the State Anti-Robbery Squad. The suspects are Asari Enagob, 400 level; Suoguai Bina, 500 level; Ibe Ogbonna, 300 level; Igbanibo Tari, 400 level; Ekperi Kenneth, 400 level; Kemefie Ebimene, 200 level, Chukwuma Lawrence. The state Commissioner of Police, Asuquo Amba, parading the suspects lamented the involvement of the students in the alleged murder, adding that they were arrested after a driver whom they assaulted and hired his bus without paying flagged down a a patrol van of operatives of the State Anti-Robbery Squad around the area. On the incident that led to the death of the unnamed student of the Federal University, Otuoke, Amba said, “The incident occurred at the Zone B Election for Coordinators of NANS at the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, between November 25 and November 26. “On November 26, three drivers – Ayo Kehinde, Jamiu Salahudeen and Nwanya Chinonso – reported to the police that the suspects (students) hijacked their vehicles and robbed them at gunpoint. “Students representing universities and higher institutions in the South-South Zone resorted to the use of firearms, which led to the death of the student. The students also involved themselves in robbery against innocent citizens. “This leaves one to wonder about the future of our great nation. The development calls for a drastic action to curb this menace and a complete reorientation of our youths.” The police recovered arms and ammunition from the suspects, including two locally-made single-barrelled pistol; two live ammunition; five 9mm live ammunition and some charms.

200 Level Student Of University Of Jos Commits Suicide Over Debt

Information reaching us from a close source, a 200level student of adult education department, Unijos committed suicide. It was reported the student was identified as Nikrus desired to take his life by drinking sniper. Sniper is a liquid substance which is use to kill insects and mosquitoes. The close source told our campus correspondent, the 200level student was a easy going person, down to earth, understanding person and had a lot of friends. According to a close friend to Nikrus, she told us her friend had bad debts he was owning from different persons which led to his death. He was frustrated about the debts he was owning from many persons so he desire to take his life.
