APC Spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi unveils cover of new book on Goodluck Jonathan

This is the first look of the front cover of the much talked about book, On a Platter of Gold – How Jonathan Won and Lost Nigeria, by the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi. The book generated huge attention last week when it was revealed that it would be released in October, prompting some commentators to conclude it would be an exposure of the Goodluck Jonathan administration. Mallam Abdullahi served under the Jonathan administration for about three years and the expectation is that he would have inside details about the administration. According to the press statement announcing the book last week: On a Platter of Gold is part history, part political thriller, which answers many of the often-asked questions about Jonathan’s incredible rise to the highest political office in the land and his unprecedented electoral defeat in 2015.’’ The title of the book has also led many to suggest that it would not be complimentary to the former President who fortuitously rose to power in 2010 after the death of President Umaru Yar’ Adua. In reality however, the title of the book may have been inspired by the former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan herself. While clarifying her rift with former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, in 2013, Mrs. Jonathan stated that the Jonathan presidency was an opportunity that fell to the South-South on a platter of gold. “The presidency is an opportunity that fell unto us on a platter of gold. We shouldn’t throw it away. We have had people that contested from this region but didn’t win. We didn’t fight, we didn’t pay. God willed it to us so we shouldn’t use politics to fight one another or destroy our kingdom”, Mrs. Jonathan had declared.

Osun State University, UNIOSUN Post UTME and Direct Entry screening exercise application form for the 2017/2018 academic session is out. Latest Update: The deadline for the 2017 Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) screening registration has been extended till Friday 22nd September 2017. Candidates that made UNIOSUN their first choice but could not find their names on first choice list should use the “OTHER CHOICE” option for their screening registration. However, they must supply their correct information which will be verified accordingly. Prospective candidates for the 2017/2018 Undergraduate Admissions are not required to visit any of our campuses for Post UTME screening exam. Screening for admission will be online and based on the VERIFIED JAMB scores and SSCE/WAEC/GCE/NECO results supplied on the Undergraduate Admissions Portal during the screening application. Direct Entry candidates must forward their academic transcripts to the Registrar, Osun State University before they can be considered for admission. Oba Adeyemi, Florence Ajimobi, Tunde Afolabi To Be Awarded Honorary Doctorate at ACU

His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Alafin of Oyo, First Lady of Oyo state, Chief [Mrs] Florence Ajimobi and a businessman Chief Tunde Afolabi [MFR], have been named as eminent Nigerians to be awarded honorary degrees, this year, by the JAjayi Crowther University, Oyo. The honorary degrees will be conferred at the university’s convocation ceremony on the 13th of October, 2017. The Governing Council of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, has approved the award of honorary Doctorate degree to three eminent Nigerians namely, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Alafin of Oyo, First Lady of Oyo state, Chief [Mrs] Florence Ajimobi and a businessman Chief Tunde Afolabi [MFR] . The Council took the decision in its meeting held in the campus on Wednesday. The degrees, will be conferred on the honorees on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the 9th convocation of the university. Chairman of the council, Chief Wole Olanipekun, who commissioned ten new projects on the campus, before the meeting, commended the university management led by the Vice Chancellor, Rt. Rev. Professor Dapo Asaju, for prudent management of funds. He said the university should serve as good example for other public institutions in the management of funds. Some of the projects commissioned include a new Registry building named after the first Registrar of the institution, Dr. Mrs Josephine Oyebanji, new classroom blocks, Faculty of Education, Language laboratory , extension of the Health centre, Crowther Hall, Faculty of Education building, Water factory, shopping complex and Ajayi Crowther University sports complex. The Vice- Chancellor said some of the projects were done in readiness for the National University Commission team being expected in the campus while others were to improve the Internally Generated Resources of the institution. The Pro-Chancellor and chairman of Governing Council said he was happy with the projects and commended the Vice-Chancellor for his visionary leadership of the university.

One Month Old ASUU Strike Is Over – Academic Activities Begins Immediately

This is to inform the general public especially all students of Nigerian Universities that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU,has officially suspended its one month, six days strike. ASUU said it was suspending the strike till end of October, 2017 for government to fulfill its vows. The union directed university lecturers to resume duty from tomorrow,Tuesday 19th, September 2017. The suspension of the strike was announced on Monday evening after a meeting with the government delegation. At the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the federal government delegation led by the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige. Mr. Chris had earlier said both parties produced “collective agreement of action” after the meeting. ASUU embarked on an indefinite strike on August 13, following government’s failure to implement the agreement reached with the union in November 2016. More Details later….
