Osinbajo leaves for London, to deliver keynote address at FT Africa Summit

The Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, will be delivering the keynote address at this year’s Africa Summit, taking place in London, United Kingdom between October 8 and 9, 2017, with the theme “What Makes Africa Work.” This is contained in a press statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice-President on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande, the copy of which was sent to Daily Post on Saturday. According to the statement, the Africa Summit hosted by the Financial Times of London is a global forum reputed as one of the leading conferences in the world on African business and economic matters. It added that the newspaper itself has had a relationship with the African continent that stretches back to its opening issue more than 125 years ago. “At the summit which attracts global leaders, economic experts, investors and intellectuals from Africa and around the world, Prof. Osinbajo will discuss the increasing economic prospects in Africa and detail the progress of the Buhari administration, especially through the Federal Government’s medium-term Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, ERGP, to the global audience. “The summit, which will also include presentations from other leaders and speakers will feature first-hand experiences and interactions from government and business leaders in the continent, while providing credible opportunities and encouraging foreign investments. So far, the yearly event has become a platform for the dissemination of a more accurate and beneficial narrative of the improving economic environment in Africa,” the statement reads.

Biafra: Ohanaeze president, Nwodo tells Igbos way forward

President-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nwodo, has advised Igbos to forget about Biafra and push for restructuring. Nwodo stated this on Thursday while speaking at the 3rd inauguration of the state and local government executives of the Abia state chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. He said the realisation of Biafra was a “tall order”, which would not be in the overall interest of the Igbo in their socio-economic and political relationships with other Nigerians. “We should forget Biafra and insist on restructuring. We must seek for peaceful ways of resolving the issues,” Nwodo said. Nwodo also urged members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to tone down their words, as hate speeches would not resolve any problem. He said the proscription of the activities of IPOB by the South-East governors prevented bloodshed.

Osun State Poly, Iree 2017/2018 ND Post-UTME Screening Exercise Reschedule

This is to inform the general public, especially candidates who applied for admission into Osun State Polytechnic, Iree that the 2017/2018 Post-UTME Screening Exercise earlier scheduled to hold on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th September, 2017  this week has been postponed to next week Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th October, 2017. Those earlier scheduled for Wednesday this week will do it next week Wednesday, while those scheduled for Thursday this week will do theirs next week Thursday. Time, Venue and Seat Number remain the same.
