Good, mainly because of the fact that the setting of your mind before coming in will determine if you’ll be able to handle what ever you meet that might want to call itself an obstacle, One major break down to remember as we begin to harness the list is that; where you are coming into is a universe, a country, a town, and a community on its own not neglecting the fact that its an academic setting. Expect anything but bear in mind these 7 things: 1. YOU ARE NOT IN SCHOOL FOR THE CHURCHY THINGS: You will like to dispute the fact with this statement; but are you aware that there is a huge difference between being RELIGIOUS and being CHURCHY/MOSQUEY as the case may be, always remember the fact that you were first a student, before the fellowship/gathering found you, so church duties should not stand in the way of your success. 2. GET READY TO AVOID RELATIONSHIP DISTRACTIONS: This is mostly common to the guys being the foundation of the problem, Don’t be deceived you’ll find beautiful girls/ladies that will entice you as a normal guy, but remember the fact that you can’t bare two things for your mind and emotions to work on it’s one at a time you either get engaged while you sink academically or float academically and let girls follow and admire you. To the ladies don’t be deceived never let them get you because it actually unnecessary, for one guy to take advantage of you all in the name of fun. True love is rare but the one’s interested in the hole between your legs is REAL, so decide… 4. ASSIGNMENTS AND CLASS ATTENDANCE ARE IMPORTANT NOT NECESSARY: You will by now know what an assignment and class attendance means, no new meaning it is the same from your secondary school. They are important because it constitute your continuous assessment for the semester which in most times acts like a grade saver, and not necessary in the sense that No one should or must threaten you for not doing any assignment even the lecturer. You are in the university now and there nothing hurts like your negative decisions. 5. NO ONE CARES WHO YOU ARE, OR WHAT SCORES FOR ENTERING THE UNIVERSITY IS: Just as you must have heard that in the university, you are as free as oxygen in air, remember that you need to respect every individual you met on campus because as a fresher as most schools will call the new in takes. Mild respect tho not to the extent of embarrassing your self. Most importantly forget the fact that you graduated from the best secondary school in the country, or that you were the senior prefect in there actually no one cares all they care about surprisingly is what you have as a treasure in you that you have to share, present your self as being useless and you’ll be taken as that. Remember that first impression lasts long also fake nothing to avoid nemesis. 6. YOUR ACADEMIC CAREER IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY POLITICAL AMBITION: Quote this any where and stand by the fact that being in power any political position is fun and always memorable but don’t forget also that you are first a student before you are qualified to be elected and that main objective you need to satisfy convincingly. I am not trying to kill your moral for it but pls work on your studies even while you aim at that, because at the end what you are able to achieve after your 4 – 5 years in school matters a lot not your political power or leadership qualities. Even tho most times it reflects depending on the position held and it varies from school to school. 7. GET READY FOR FUN CATCHING AND GET CARRIED AWAY: Now we are at the main point that a lot of people will look forward to harnessing when they finally get into school. It is advisable to be out going but not to the extreme. Catch your fun when necessary but never forget to return to your book as soon as the fun is over. All work and no play will make you a dull individual. With all these being said I’ll like to tell you to get ready to get developed, and grow. Be open to learn new things from your colleagues that know about them especially things that are of interest to you surprisingly it might not cost you much cash except more of your free time, unlike you learning them from outside. Don’t graduate from the school with your result alone, graduate a new and developed individual. KEEP MIND THAT YOU ARE THE AVERAGE OF THE FIRST THREE FRIENDS YOU MAKE WHEN YOU GET INTO THAT SCHOOL.

I remain Labour Party chairman – Abdulsalam

Embattled National Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam has insisted he remains the authentic leader of the party. Speaking on Thursday in Abuja, Abdulsalam stated that his removal by some rebellious members of the party was a joke. He added that Tuesday special convention of the party organised by some aggrieved leaders, is ‘a gathering of miscreants’ and that Mr Mike Tayo Omotosho who was named chairman, was never a member of the party. “When the leadership of the party heard of the planned illegality of this group, we wrote to INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) in a letter dated September 12 and received on September 13. “We stated that our party’s constitution provided that the National Secretary shall cause to be issued a notice of meetings of the National Convention, National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Working Committee (NWC) in consultation with and approval of the National Chairman as contained in Article 15(4)(b) 2014 constitution of our party. “The man (Omotosho) laying claim to be the new National Chairman is not a member of Labour Party. Though he came to contest election under the party sometimes ago but he never paid for nomination form or anything and since then after the election in 2015 we never saw him again,”‎ he said.

Defection: Declare Tijani, Jisalo’s seats vacant – PDP tells Dogara

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has asked the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, to declare the seats of Reps Ahmed Tijani and Zaphaniah Jisalo vacant over their defection from the Party to the All Progressives Congress (APC). It a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Dayo Adeyeye, the PDP maintained that the excuses given by the two lawmakers for their defection were “vague, cooked up and purely irrelevant to any section of the Nigerian Constitution.” The statement read in part: “We wish to announce to all Nigerians that the PDP as a Party, do not have any crisis nor do we have any division within the leadership structure of our Party which could justify the Decision of the Two House of Representatives Members to jump ship. “In the light of this, we wish to inform all Nigerians and the leadership of the National Assembly, most especially, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Yakubu Dogara that the Duo of Hon. Ahmed Tijani from Kogi State and Zaphaniah Jisalo from the FCT who announced their defection from our Party to the Ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have embarked on illegal acts, contrary to the Provisions of the Nigerian Constitution. “Their excuses for defecting from our Party are vague, cooked up and purely irrelevant to any section of the Nigerian Constitution. “We thus expect and demand, that the Honourable Speaker and the Body of Principal Officers of the House of Representatives, act in accordance with the Oath of allegiance they took to defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by immediately ensuring that the Seats of these defectors are declared vacant . “In the face of tyranny that is gradually creeping on the Nation, the least the leadership of the National Assembly – the Greatest Beacon of Democracy can do, is to stick with the Rule of Law and uphold the dictates of the Constitution without fear or favour, without considering allegiance to any political affiliation. “As a political Party, we stand by the patriotic and constitutional position taken by Hon. Yakubu Barde from Kaduna and that of Hon. Ossai Nicholas Ossai from Delta State who stood against the dastardly act which these former members of our Party exhibited in the Chambers of the House of Representatives when their supposed letters of defections were read out by Speaker Dogara to whom the letters were submitted. “We expect nothing aside a noble support by the Speaker of the House of Representatives for the Rule of Law, and we say loud and clear that there is no division whatsoever in our Party, the PDP that would have served as justification for the defections announced by the Two Members in the Chamber. “For clarity purpose, the Supreme Court, the Highest Court in this Nation, has decided in a landmark Judgement delivered on July 12, 2017, that there is no leadership crisis in the PDP and as such, the Party under the acceptable leadership of the National Caretaker Committee (NCC) is the only leadership recognised by law as the authentic leadership of the PDP. “We wish to point out clearly that anyone who announces any defection from the PDP, citing any sort of internal crisis is being a liar. “Based on the foregoing, we demand the immediate declaration of the Seats of Hon Ahmed Tijani from Kogi State and Zaphaniah Jisalo from the FCT, vacant.”

Biafra: Ohanaeze president, Nwodo tells Igbos way forward

President-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nwodo, has advised Igbos to forget about Biafra and push for restructuring. Nwodo stated this on Thursday while speaking at the 3rd inauguration of the state and local government executives of the Abia state chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. He said the realisation of Biafra was a “tall order”, which would not be in the overall interest of the Igbo in their socio-economic and political relationships with other Nigerians. “We should forget Biafra and insist on restructuring. We must seek for peaceful ways of resolving the issues,” Nwodo said. Nwodo also urged members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to tone down their words, as hate speeches would not resolve any problem. He said the proscription of the activities of IPOB by the South-East governors prevented bloodshed.

He said that teachers all over the world had shown commitment to their calling and had made sacrifices that had defined their undying spirits to mold characters as agents of social change and social engineering. The governor while celebrating with teachers all over the world especially in Ebonyi State, reminded them of the danger ahead if workers continued to depend on their salaries which he said were merge and inadequate to carry their financial obligations. He said his administration despite the prompt payment of workers and teachers’ salaries on the 15th of every month, had also initiated various empowerment programmes to enable the teachers engage in other meaningful economic ventures to carry their financial loads. He lamented that despite the dwindling allocation from the federation account caused by the decline in oil price, teachers all over the country had not realized the need to think outside the box to go into agriculture as alternative to nation’s economy. Umahi charged teachers in the state to return without further delay to school agricultural programme which he identified as only solution to the impending economic doom which may arise if Nigerians kept depending on oil. No plan to invite Alison-Madueke to Nigeria for trial – FG

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, says Nigeria has no immediate plan to bring back home former Petroleum Minister, Mrs Deziani Alison-Madueke, to face trial. Alison-Madueke, who is being investigated in the UK, had earlier urged the Federal Government to bring her back to the country to face corruption charges against her. Malami, however, told State House correspondents in Abuja on Wednesday that bringing her back to the country would jeopardize the investigation being carried on her in the UK. “Steps have been taken by the United Kingdom authorities on issues bothering on corrupt practices involving Nigerians. “If Nigeria feels strongly that there is need to bring Mrs Diezani Alison -Madueke here to face charges of corruption, government will not hesitate to do that. “As things stand now, there is no need for that since the UK Government is already investigating her. “Government will not take any decision that will jeopardize what the UK government is doing,’’ he said. He said Madueke could request to be brought home for trial but that she should face her trial in the UK because the gravity of the offence she committed abroad was higher. He said: “Mrs Deziani Alison -Madueke is facing charges of money laundering and acquisition of properties in the United Kingdom. “So it is more important to face the charges there than for her to come as a mere witness in a case in Nigeria.’’ The minister further stated that the country was doing a lot in litigation and fight against corruption within and outside the country. “The truth of the matter is that government is doing something, especially on issues of corruption and litigation in Nigeria and outside the country,” he added. He said that there had been some understanding between Nigeria and other countries, especially the United Kingdom on recovery of stolen funds.

2019: Ex-Reps member declares intention to run for Ogun governorship seat

Ex-House of Representatives member, Abiodun Akinlade, has declared his intention to run for the governorship seat in 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Akinlade who hailed from Yewa – Awori area of the state, urged the Ogun people to support the quest of the Yewa-Awori to produce the next governor of the state in 2019. He also pledged to revisit the abandoned agro-cargo airport and other viable economic projects located in the Ijebu axis of the state if elected as governor. “I have come to seek for your support and prayers. The agro-cargo airport, we must do it because it will generate money, create employment and it will also open up Ogun East area. “I have knocked on your door, please open up and help me to secure the party ticket and become the candidate for 2019 election. Folorunso assured the defectors that they would be accommodated and their interests protected through a level playing field. President Buhari to meet Kachikwu over leaked document, to probe NNPC

– President Buhari is expected to meet with Ibe Kachikwu – The meeting s likely to centre on his leaked memo – There are speculations that the NNPC will be probed President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to meet the minister of state of petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, on Thursday, September 5 over his leaked letter to him. A letter sent to the president by the minister was leaked in which he alleged that $25billion contracts have been wrongly awarded by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Group Managing Director Dr. Maikanti Baru The Nation reports that the meeting between the president and Kachikwu is expected to focus on content of his memo which could instigate the probing of Baru. A source close to the presidency who spoke on the issue said: “The President will have a fact-finding session with Kachikwu on some of the claims in his August 30 memo. The President and cabinet members were shocked by the issues raised by the minister. “This audience is already in the schedule of the President today. Kachikwu will have the opportunity to explain what went wrong in the NNPC and the insubordination of the GMD. “For instance, the issue of lack of access to the President and sidelining him are really strange. Buhari wants to go into the details.” “President Buhari does not condone indiscipline. There is a high probability that some of the allegations were not brought to his notice. “The real questions are: Why did GMD Baru sideline his supervising Minister? How did Baru get approval for the contracts? Could he have misled the government with a cover-up memo? Did anybody or group take advantage of the President’s medical trip? “The Presidency may probe these allegations against Baru”. “The Presidency will certainly not spare the rod and the President is determined to get to the root of the $25billion contracts.” Another government official who spoke on the condition of anonymity expressed shock over the issue especially with the leaked memo. He said: “It is evident that there are some moles in this government. They want to do everything to pull down this administration. “After addressing the key issues, the government will also ask the appropriate agencies to probe the leakage. “If the minister is culpable, he might be sanctioned for alleged violation of his oath of office and oath of allegiance. The days of moles in government are numbered.” Nigerian Senate constituted an ad-hoc committee to investigate alleged corruption in the NNPC. Kachikwu in a letter dated August 30, told the president that the conducts of the NNPC GMD were counterproductive to the country’s petroleum sector.

Nigerian electorate has lost confidence in you – PDP tells APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that it is no more news that the Nigerian electorate has lost confidence in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Chairman, PDP Caretaker Committee in Oyo State, Hon. Tunde Akogun who made this revelation on Wednesday in Ibadan the state capital at the maiden meeting of his committee, declared that the chances of the party to win next general elections in the state are bright. Akogun noted that the function of the committee was to deliver the state to the PDP fold in 2019. He, however, warned members of the party against unapproved meeting. He said “It is no more news that the Nigerian electorate has lost confidence in the APC led Federal Government and if we observe the disenchantment caused by recent avoidable controversies in the state, the chances of a united and virile PDP to win subsequent elections in Oyo State is very bright.” Akogun also declared that the party had fixed its ward congresses for Saturday 21 October, local government congresses for Saturday 28th October, while the state congress has been slated for 4th of November this year. While speaking on the importance of the meeting, Akogun said that the meeting will help the elected members of the party to take part in the forthcoming national congress. Akogun vowed to do everything possible to have a viable and active party acceptable to the masses, adding that the party’s glory will be restored. He added that he will ensure free, fair and transparent atmosphere to members in repositioning the party. He said, “We will conclude our assignment by supervising the conduct of congress at the ward on Saturday, 21-10-17 while local government councils comes up on Saturday 28-10-17 and the state Saturday 04-11-2017 to enable our elected candidates vote at the national convention coming soon. “Let me appeal to all of you to give us your sincere and fullest cooperation in order to finish the job successfully and as scheduled. “Let me warn that on no account should anyone convocation a PDP meeting at the state level without my approval as any such person(s) will be sanctioned. “On our part, the secretary and I will do everything possible to have a viable and active party which will be acceptable to the masses that will restore our lost glory even within this very limited time. “We will ensure a free, fair, transparent and conducive atmosphere to all members in order to reposition our great party for victory.”

Kachikwu’s letter to Buhari ‘very damning’ – Osuntokun

Akin Osuntokun, former Political Adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, has described the letter written by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, to President Muhammadu Buhari on the state of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation as “damning to the Presidency.” In the letter, the Minister accused the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru, of insubordination, and creating a culture of fear in the corporation. Kachikwu had written the letter after being “unable to secure an appointment” to see the President “despite very many attempts”. Osuntokun, who spoke about the issue on Channels Television’s “Politics Today”, said the claims by Kachikwu indicated that there was chaos in the government. He said: “There is an element of being a chaotic or dysfunctional government; that is where offices and individuals are not performing their functions as expected or actually, doing it in a counterproductive way. “What this (letter) says is very damning on the Presidency – that you cannot see the President (as a minister). He (Kachikwu) wrote this letter in August and before he wrote that letter, maybe for some months he had been waiting to see the President but he could not see him to brief him on such an important segment, the most crucial economic anchor of the country.” It is not the first time officials of the current administration have been at loggerheads. This, according to Mr Osuntokun who is also a former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria is why the problem at the NNPC cannot be treated in isolation. “If it is an isolated instance, you can overlook it although this is bad enough. But also look at the case of the Acting Chairman of the EFCC that is perennially at the Senate, where an appointee of the President, the DG SSS, writes against the nomination made by the President himself. So when you take all these together, the picture that you will see is chaos,” he said. With the debate raging on over who is wrong or what the President should do, the Senate has decided to probe the allegations against the NNPC boss. It took the decision during plenary on Wednesday. For Osunkotun, there are many questions that need answers, including why President Buhari removed Kachikwu as NNPC GMD after appointing him to the role in the first case and why he is having a tough time getting clearance to see the President who doubles as Minister of Petroleum with Kachikwu as the junior minister in that ministry. The former presidential adviser believes that the President’s recent health challenges are partly responsible for the “chaos”. “There is a part explanation for that which is open to the public and that is the physical indisposition of the President, especially in the past one year,” he said. “For the better part of the past one year he has not been at his desk and even when he is at home – I am just speaking factually – we know that he is not performing at the peak of his health; this is what we read in the newspapers, (that) he may not be able to attend council meetings and so on and so forth. But it can be better managed.”
