UTME 2017: Why The Results Of Some Candidates Won’t Be Released – Registrar

Examination body, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board on Thursday states that the results of candidates identified in footages of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) to have indulged in unwholesome practices during the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) won’t be released.

Registar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede, who spoke on Channels Television Sunrise Daily said the agency had been busy in the past days reviewing recorded footages of the examination across the country, and that a number of candidates had been marked out for sanction.

Oloyede, was responding to a question by one of the anchors of the programme on why some candidates were yet to receive their results despite promises by JAMB to release outcomes within 24 hours.

The registrar said, “Those who have not received (their results) are qualified not to receive for now. In all cases where there were no problems, we released results of the examination within 24 hours.

“But those who have not (received their results), they may not be culpable but we are investigating. Where we have reason to doubt anything or where we have report of anything that is not acceptable to us, we have withheld the results.

“And we will keep on releasing them as we clear them. For instance, this morning, we released another 15,000 results. But among those who sat in that centre, we have reasons, concrete evidence to say about 300 of them, their results will not be released because we know they were not in the hall where the examination took place.

“We are comparing those who sat for the examination, how long they sat in the hall, and how some of them took excuses that they were going to the toilet only to go to what they called VIP…

“All this we are now able to track. And we want to say that we will not hesitate to sanction anybody no matter how highly placed.”

Mr. Oloyede said the CCTV cameras deployed at every Computer Based Test (CBT) centres across the country helped JAMB to detect and arrest unwholesome practices.

He said some centre operators however tried to sabotage his agency’s plan to make the examination fraud-free, citing the example of a centre in Kubwa, Abuja, where operators blinded the cameras with sacks to frustrate remote detection of malpractices that happened there.

The JAMB registrar appealed to credible organisations and individuals to come forward to partner JAMB in the establishment of reputable CBT centres across the country.

“Crooks are now establishing CBT centres, and meeting our requirements only to misuse the opportunities,” he said.

In a statement on the charity’s page he said: “There are moments in life that instantly affect you and stop you in your tracks. Monday night was one of those occasions.

“Like so many others, I have enjoyed great nights at the arena, often with my family. “As a father, I am horrified that a night out for so many young people could end so tragically. My heart goes out all those affected. Please give whatever you can.”

Twenty-two people were killed and 59 injured when terrorist Salman Abedi detonated a bomb as thousands of children and parents left the Manchester Arena on Monday night.

Manchester United, Man City Jointly Donate HUGE Money For Suicide Attack Victims

Manchester City and Manchester United have pledged a sum of £1million to assist those involved in the Manchester suicide terror attack last Monday.

Around 23 people were reported killed while 57 got injured as a result of a suicide attack that occurred at the Manchester Arena after Ariana Griande’s concert on Monday. Both Manchester clubs have agreed to pull resources to help the victims’ family and dependants by pledging a sum of £1million to the We Love Manchester Emergency fund which had already raised a sum of £2million before the donation from the football clubs.

Chairman of Manchester City, Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: ‘We have all been humbled by the strength and solidarity shown by the people of Manchester in the days since the attack. The hope of both our clubs is that our donation will go some small way to alleviate the daunting challenges faced by those directly affected and that our acting together will serve as a symbol to the world of the unbreakable strength of the spirit of Manchester.’

Speaking of the collaboration, executive vice-chairman of Manchester United, Ed Woodward said: The barbarism of Monday evening’s attack has shocked everyone. Our clubs are right at the heart of our local communities in Manchester and it is right that we present a unified response to this tragedy. The money will help, of course but the work of the two clubs and their respective foundation and community scheme can build on the fantastic spirit that Mancunians have shown in the immediate aftermath.’

Pastor Slept With Me For 6 Years, I’ve Had 4 Abortions – Teenager Confesses

A 16-year-old Senior Secondary School, SSI student, has revealed she was subjected to sexual violations since age of 10 years by a pastor at the Egbe branch of a popular new generation pentecostal church in Lagos.

The victim, from her hospital bed around Ikotun area of the state, alleged that the suspect in connivance of a medical doctor, had carried out four abortions on her without her consent.

She said her predicament started after she lost her parents six years ago. An uncle she identified simply as George, took her to Delta State from where the suspect, who had just been separated from his wife, took her to Lagos to look after his child, with a promise to train her in school.

That was when he allegedly started a sexual relationship with her in his three-bedroom flat at 6, Dolamo Street, Agodo-Egbe.

The victim told Vanguard that whenever he wanted to have sexual intercourse with her, he would invite her to his bedroom and offer her some drugs after which she would lose her memory.

Her words:

“He usually invited me to bring water to his room at night. Thereafter, he would give me some drugs. But when I summoned courage to ask him one day, he said that the drugs was to make me sexually active.

“The first time I opened up to our branch’s Senior Pastor and his wife, I was hushed. They even said I wanted to tarnish my guardian’s image, despite all he had done to keep me in school.

“Again, I reported the sexual molestation to some of my school teachers, but they said they did not know how to go about it and how to prove my claim. They were even afraid that I could be driven away from the house and that it would mean the end of my education.

“This is my fourth pregnancy he has aborted. When he took me to the doctor that has been carrying out the abortion on me, the doctor refused, saying he had been doing it right from when I was 10 years.

“The doctor opened up to me that there could be complications if the pregnancy was terminated. He took me to another place that looked like a laboratory on Monday, where I was laid on a slab.

“I begged the doctor not to do anything, but they pinned me down and the doctor induced me to sleep. When I woke up, I discovered that they had flushed out the pregnancy.”

She added that when they got home that night, the suspect attempted to sleep with her again, but she refused, adding that the next day (Tuesday), she packed her belongings out of the house and headed for school where she intended to be living.

It was while heading to the school that she slumped, bleeding from her private part. Sympathisers rushed her to a hospital along Isolo-Mushin Road, where it was discovered that the abortion was not properly done.

“The hospital bed I laid on was soaked with blood. The attention of a church member, who is also a family friend of my guardian, was invited. When the result of the scan came out, it revealed that the abortion was not properly done”‎, he added.

Her guardian, who she calls Daddy, has been arrested by policemen at Area ‘M’ – Idimi and investigations, according to police sources, were ongoing.

I pray God bless you all with a Good Wife and or Good Husband too 🙏

I miss you all and all our Funny gists and comments, am back for good 😂

“What is the Most Painful Your Mum Has Ever Done To You?”

Feel free to share the experience back then with us via the comment box. Tell us what happened between you and your momsy and lets have a good time.

For Me (Makinde):- It was a sunny sunday morning and I was barely 12 years old then.. Momsy prepared Yam and Egg for us.

She served me mine and I was jejely battling with the Yam for more than 30mins. I was shoving the Strong Yam down my Throat with cold pure water without touching the Egg at all. My intention was to sit right and enjoy the sweet egg online without any Yam distracting me 😀😀

Just as I was about to start eating the Fried Egg remaining in my Plate, this Woman (Momsy’s Friend) came into our Sitting room and she said to momsy that she was very hungry. Momsy gave me a corner eye and ask me to bring the Egg into the Kitchen 😉 I thought she wanted to add more Eggs for me, I was so happy and already feeling on top of the world.

Momsy added 5 slices of Yam on top of my Egg and she handed it over to her friend who started eating without knowing someone’s life is attached the Egg she was about eating.

That day, I cried hell. Infact, 15 years later, Am still in Pain because e still be like say the Yam still dey my Throat.

“E no go better for you this woman”, I silently cursed the woman silently in my mind 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I cried blood 😩

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

‘If you call yourself a virgin and you masturbate, you are not one’ – Counselor Lutterodt

Controversial Ghanaian marriage counselor, George Lutterodt, in a new shocking disclosure has said that virgins who masturbate should not describe themselves as one.
He disclosed this in a recent interview with Kasapa FM, while revealing the high rate of masturbating virgins between Christians.
According to him:

‘We have masturbating virgins and per a research, I conducted last year, Christians are in that range more than anyone else in the sense that, they do not want to have sex with anyone but masturbate to satisfy their sexual desire. These people cannot describe themselves as virgins because they derive the same pleasure like people who have sex.’

Mr. Lutterodt also rain curses on men living in Diaspora who purchase sex toys for their wives in other to prevent them from committing adultery

‘If you are a woman married to a man abroad and he has purchased a sex toy for you so you satisfy your sex desires with the aim of preventing you from committing adultery, he is a fool.

Any man who asks you to engage in Skype sex is a fool and does not respect you. We need to respect women and it doesn’t take you anything to spend your last dime to come and visit your wife than to put her in the context of a sex machine.’
He added, that women in such situation are seriously suffering in bed because they have been subjected to bad sexual life like using sex toys on themselves.
In April, George Lutterodt who is known for making controversial statements on relationships, sex and dating said that any man who marries a beautiful woman suffers in bed.

SO TRUE! Here Are The 5 Things That Happen When You Graduate With A Poor CGPA

I’ve seen many reasons adduced by several individuals why grades do not matter or are less important in determining future successes. I do think the influence of grades has been understated.

No doubt, grades can be a poor way to determine someone’s success or better still, measure an individual’s self-worth. Your success in life or otherwise may not be determined by how excellent your grades are. It probably isn’t going to make you successful or unsuccessful.

However, grades are an instant image of you at any point in time. Grades are the foremost tools schools use to measure it’s students abilities. This means it will give a huge initial judgement about you, which transcends beyond the academic environment.

If you think grades don’t matter, ask that friend who missed that fully paid scholarship by graduating with a third class. Grades matter if you desire to get that competitive job where employers look at CGPA. As a fresh graduate, grades will matter until you get something more compelling to sell yourself.

If you desire career progression in the academics, bad grades will ground you.

It is a fact that majority of people with low grades are usually defaulters when it comes to self-discipline, hard work, diligence, and planning skill, to mention but a few. All of these failings might act in limiting the success of these individuals (with poor grades) after graduation.

Good grades give you a head start, and an added advantage going forward. The world is moving at a fast pace, too busy in most cases to give you an opportunity to disprove your poor grades. Therefore they go by the numbers (grades) in assessing you. You probably won’t get a chance to prove your competence.

And yes, Not everyone will be an entrepreneur or succeed as one. Not everyone will have giraffe legs (know somebody that knows somebody in that establishment). Not everyone will/can work in the Nigerian civil service (where anything goes).

Haven stated that, here are 5 things that happen when you graduate with a low grade:

1. You close important doors: some doors when closed can never be opened again. How sad! Whatever opportunities, big or small, there are outside that door eludes you forever.

If you settled for less and got low grades due to laziness and nonchalant attitude towards book work, you effectively closed all doors requiring higher grades! A graduate with a pass or a third class automatically rules him/herself out of certain job opportunities! I need not mention these jobs, you know them.

2. Fewer choices: this is similar to the above. You end up with less choice if you graduate with a poor CGPA. why? Windows are smaller than doors! Less career advancement options, less job option, and less pay. You’ll have to settle for less.

3. Vices will appeal to you: I mean no disrespect to those with poor grades. However, social vices such as gambling, drunkenness, and others I choose not to mention will appeal to you. Anything just to dampen the disappointment of wasted years. However, it all ends in more disappointment for those not willing to get it right the right way.

4. Battered esteem: poor grades will batter your esteem. You will always avoid public discussions that will warrant a mention or display of your grade status either by you or others.

Can you comfortably put your pass degree qualification on a CV? Never! Deflated ego, inferiority, and other similar words will describe your situation.
Only a few (mentally strong) will refuse to be downcast and laid-back by letting grades get in their way to achieving success. The greater majority wallows in regret for years.

5. Delays in career progression: if you graduate with a third class, you’ll need a PGD to move forward. If it’s a pass, you’re probably stuck/grounded. In the academics, grades are prioritised, and it’ll remain so for a long time.

It is, therefore important that you begin to answer questions such as where you desire to be in the next five years, what steps to take to get there and what doors you need to go through. The earlier these questions are answered, the more doors you’ll have access to, and go through.

To make it big, you either have to be the best at what you are doing (non academic activity) or follow the conventional easier path – good grades.

Choose the doors to open and don’t let life choose for you because it might be a far cry from that which you desired.

Grades do matter a lot.

Common Vocabulary Mistakes That We Make And Their Corrections.

Hi guys,

As a Nigerian i can’t help but notice how we tend to overlook nuances in our vocabulary. Today i will be discussing the differences between Sight, Site and Cite. As you would have noticed, the aforementioned words are homophones.

1. Sight: This directly refers to the ability to a person to see as a verb (action) e.g tell me when you sight seun. As a noun, it means the power/ faculty of seeing e.g a snake’s sight is poor in dim light.

2. Site: A site is a geographical location/ point of the earth e.g the proposed site of an airport.

3. Cite: to quote or mention a book/ journal/ document (especially an authority on a subject) to support an argument or a theory e.g he cited the work of Albert Einstein to support his claim

Now that we know the differences and contexts within which such words should be used, can we go into the world and educate others?

Court orders forfeiture of N449m found in Lagos shop to FG

Justice Rilwan Aikawa of the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of the sum of N449,597,000 found in an abandoned Bureau de Change shop in Victoria Island, Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC on April 8th.

Justice Aikawa gave the order for permanent forfeiture after no one came forward to claim ownership of the money.

The judge had on April 19th granted an order for the interim forfeiture of the money pending when anyone would come forward to claim it. EFCC hand approached the court for an order for the forfeiture of the money after a respondent in the case, Mohammed Tauheed, failed to come forward to claim the money. Counsel for the EFCC, Idris Mohammed, told the judge that the interim order of April 19 had been advertised in the newspaper on May 11, so as to bring the case to the notice of Tauheed any interested party.

However neither Tauheed nor any other person come forward to claim the money. Delivering judgment on the application for permanent forfeiture, Justice Aikawa said “This court ordered, among others, the respondent (Tauheed) and any other interested party to show cause, within 14 days, why the interim forfeiture of N449,597,000 should not be made final. As far as my record shows, neither the respondent nor any other interested party has filed any affidavit or any other process to show cause why the interim order should not be made final.

In the instant case, the respondent has, additionally, not filed any process in response to the motion on notice. In the circumstances, I have no option but to grant the application as prayed. Accordingly, I hereby ordered that the sum of N449,597,000 found in possession of the respondent, which sum is reasonably suspected to be proceeds of an unlawful activity, be finally forfeited to the Federal Government.”
