ASUU Strike Is Not An Excuse If You Fail – How To Recover From ASUU Strike Downgrade In Your Studies

It’s  no more a rumour about the suspension of  the ASUU Strike on Monday, September 18.  According to ASUU SEPTEMBER 18TH 2017; ASUU said it was suspending the strike till October for the federal government to fulfill its pledges, ASUU also ordered lecturers to resume duty from Tuesday, September 19. A memorandum of understanding was signed with the federal government delegation at the meeting. However mixed reactions  filled the Social Media  as majority  of the students wanted the strike to continue. This was unexpected and it took most people especially parents of these students by Surprise. Statistical Reports of these reactions produced a 53 – 47 Percent of Students voting for the continuation of the strike. When asked the reasons for these decisions it was discovered that most  of these Students were mainly scared of returning to  School due to their inability to Cover up what they’ve been Taught In their Respective schools. In order to help Foster these various Students Confidence here are few Advice and Tips to help you get back on your  Studies; ° KNOW  YOUR STYLE OF READING AND ASSIMILATION  Most Students often copy most of  Their Pairs,  especially where the mentality of Reading for long hours is the best. However research shows that the brain of each individual Differ in terms of speed of assimilation.  Be able to understand the kind of person you are. Are you the kind that can only read for 2 hours ?  Or maybe  3 hours . Can you only read when everywhere is quiet ?  Are you better at reading when you have music in your ears?  Learn to understand yourself is the first  Goal  to achieving success in your Academic Life. ° AVOID DISTRACTIONS OF ANY KIND  Distractions can come in any form,  the most common distractions found in the Educational System nowadays is the Use of Mobile phones  and Social media. Be able to put that aside and focus on your goal if it will take you to switch off the phone for you to avoid it,  Kindly Do so. When you switch off your gadgets and it helped you read for just 2 hours, you’ve gained something that day. Also as a student you have different friends of different backgrounds and lifestyle. Know the kind of people you move with as and old saying goes  ” show me your friends and how will tell you who you are”.  Their is no way you can associate yourself with Party freaks, smokers, prostitutes and other illegal things and also mix it with your Education and expect a positive result from your academic life. ° STOP PROCRASTINATING This is common to most individuals,  but as a student you are expected to have a scale of preference that details your day to day activities and avoids any form of procrastinating your main objectives. In a situation where you have to pick between reading your books and doing a midnight plan.?  Dear readers  their will be a lot of Night plans for you to do. Kindly stick to reading your books  and when you’re done with that other valuable things can follow. Furthermore,  Procrastination can deal a Major blow to your Educational Life as most students nowadays find themselves unable to attain their desired goal and the unlucky ones result to an Extra  Year in school which sometimes demoralize their Moral and Social well being, Self Esteem and Self  Value. While others who can’t cope Later Drop out due to the fact of not doing the right thing at the right time. Atletico Madrid’s new Wanda Metropolitano stadium will host the 2019 Champions League final. Atletico played their first league game in the 67,000-capacity venue when they beat Malaga 1-0 on 17 September. The 2019 Europa League final will be played at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan, while Budapest in Hungary will host the Women’s Champions League final. Istanbul’s Besiktas Stadium will stage the 2019 Uefa Super Cup. Madrid will become only the second city to have held five or more European Cup finals after London – Real’s Bernabeu Stadium hosted the finals in 1957, 1969, 1980 and 2010.

Michy Batshuayi scored a hat-trick as Chelsea eased past Championship side Nottingham Forest to book a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. Brazilian winger Kenedy tapped home to make it 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. Forest were overpowered, Belgium striker Batshuayi doubling the lead before Charly Musonda made it 3-0. Batshuayi added a fourth before completing his hat-trick on 86 minutes, Tendayi Darikwa scoring a late consolation for Forest. Chelsea could even afford the luxury of giving former Exeter City defender Ethan Ampadu, who has only just turned 17, his debut in the 55th minute.

Arsenal moved into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup as Theo Walcott’s first-half goal saw off League One Doncaster Rovers at Emirates Stadium. The Gunners, who made 11 changes from the side that drew 0-0 with Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, hit the crossbar early on through Olivier Giroud’s overhead kick. But Walcott put the hosts ahead when he collected Alexis Sanchez’s cross-field pass and dinked a shot over Ian Lawlor. Doncaster’s Matty Blair headed against the bar late on, but Arsenal advanced.

Caraboa Cup – Manchester United 4-1 Burton Albion (RESULT)

Marcus Rashford scored twice as holders Manchester United overpowered Burton Albion at Old Trafford to reach the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. Championship Burton made nine changes and were 1-0 down when Rashford dinked the ball over keeper Connor Ripley. England forward Rashford made it 2-0 with a 20-yard finish before Jesse Lingard’s deflected shot found the net. Anthony Martial added the fourth from a Rashford assist, Lloyd Dyer scoring a stoppage time consolation.

Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU post UTME and Direct Entry screening forms are now on sale for the 2017/2018 academic session. OAU post UTME minimum cut-off mark is 200. The registration portal will be available as from the 11th of September, 2017. Latest Update: The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released results for the exams conducted in June/July 2017. This is the rarest opportunity for UTME and DE candidates to update their O’level certificates via their dashboard by Login with their credentials (i.e. UTME No. and Surname) and Clicking on Edit My Certificate(s) on the left margin and edit as appropriate. This functionality is available till Friday, 22nd September 2017 after which the facility would be disabled. The Printed Registration Slip would contain the allotted date and time  to be brought along to the screening venue in addition to JAMB UTME Notification of Results/Registration Slip. The Combination (i.e. OAU Post-UTME Registration Slip and JAMB UTME Notification of Results Slip) would be the pass for entrance into the Computer-Based Aptitude Test venue.

Barcelona have overtaken rivals Real Madrid, in having the largest wage budget in La Liga, according to data released on Tuesday. According to the numbers from the Spanish league, the money available for Barca’s bills are up to €507million or £448million. Their main title rivals, Real, meanwhile have a cap on overall salaries that comes in at €199m or £442m. This is the first time since the introduction of centralised TV rights in Spain, that Barca can outspend the Bernabeu side. The data comes from strict La Liga measures, which is set to prevent clubs from overspending on wages. The caps, which are made public each season in September, are linked to the total income of each club and covers the wages of players and coaching staff. In each of the last two seasons, Real have had the bigger budgets. In 2016/2017, Zinedine Zidane’s team had a cap of €419m (£370m), compared to Barca’s €390m (£345m). In 2015/2016, Real could spend up to €431m (£381m), with the Catalan giants on €421m (£372m). Trouble For Premier League Side Chelsea As FIFA Is Investigating Them For This Reason

FIFA is investigating Chelsea for the third time in eight years over a potential breach of young player regulations. FIFA responded this afternoon to questions about media reports regarding Chelsea signing foreign players under the age of 18. “We can confirm that an investigation is ongoing,” FIFA said in an email. “We cannot provide any details concerning the matters under investigation.” FIFA rules prohibit the international transfer of players under the age of 18 unless their parents have emigrated for reasons not connected to football or both the player and club are based within 50 kilometres of a national border. The only other exception is for transfers within either the European Union or European Economic Area (EEA), where the minimum age is 16. In those cases, clubs must still ensure that the player continues his education and studies for an alternative career, as well as making sure he has a high living standard. A Chelsea spokesman told British media that the club complies with all FIFA statutes and regulations when recruiting players. Chelsea have been investigated twice previously over their signing of minors.

Benzema Signs Four-year Contract At Real Madrid

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has signed a four-year contract extension that ties him to the club until 2021. The 29-year-old has scored 181 goals in 371 appearances since joining from French side Lyon in 2009. He becomes the fourth Real player, after right-back Dani Carvajal, left-back Marcelo and midfielder Isco, to agree a new deal this week. Manager Zinedine Zidane has also signed a new contract with last season’s Champions League and La Liga winners. Benzema has won 14 trophies at Real, including three Champions League titles and La Liga twice.

Nnamdi Kanu has been ‘abducted, probably killed’ – Lawyer claims

Counsel to the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kani, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has alleged that his client has been abducted and probably killed during the recent face-off between members of the secessionist group and the Military had in Imo and Rivers state recently. In a statement released yesterday, Ejiofor said since the September 14th “invasion” of Nnamdi Kanu’s home in Umuahia, Abia state by some military officers, he has not been able to communicate with him. The lawyer claimed that the whereabouts of Kanu is yet unknown by him nor members of his family. According to Ejiofor, Kanu might have been killed during the crossfire that occurred on the day of the “invasion”. “I have no doubt whatsoever that stories making the rounds that my Client has fled outside Nigeria, were planted to divert attention from their murderous raid on my client’s house. I made last contact with my client few minutes into the bloody onslaught in his home on the 14th day of September 2017. Till date, I have not established further communication with him. The soldiers must have made possible contact with him on this 14th day of September 2017, when they invaded his house on a bloody raid, and by virtue of which position, they should tell the world if he was caught by fire of bullets in the hit of the bloody onslaught or he was arrested alive. In all probability, my client may have been killed by the invading soldiers who are now seeking ways to fool the world into believing that he has left the country. My request is that the military should produce my client wherever they kept him and stop diverting attention of the public,” Ejiofor said The lawyer also denied knowing the source of a letter reportedly signed and released by Kanu on September 14th, the day he claims the IPOB leader went missing. The letter announced that he would not be attending the South East governors meeting in Enugu state. Ejiofor said he was not aware of the letter and that he cannot verify the authenticity of it.
