The management of Akwa Ibom State College of Science and Technology, formerly  College of Arts and Science wishes to inform all Applicants and Potential Applicants that the 2017/2018 admission screening exercise for National Diploma of the College shall hold as follows: The screening exercise has been schedule to hold on Tuesday, 17th October 2017 and Wednesday 18th, October 2017.Screening RequirementsApplicants are required to appear for the screening exercise with the following documents:1. Original JAMB results (for ND candidates only)2. Original WAEC/NECO results.3. Birth Certificate/Age Declaration4. Proof/Certificate of Origin5. Screening fee of N2000 (two thousand naira) only.

I remain Labour Party chairman – Abdulsalam

Embattled National Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam has insisted he remains the authentic leader of the party. Speaking on Thursday in Abuja, Abdulsalam stated that his removal by some rebellious members of the party was a joke. He added that Tuesday special convention of the party organised by some aggrieved leaders, is ‘a gathering of miscreants’ and that Mr Mike Tayo Omotosho who was named chairman, was never a member of the party. “When the leadership of the party heard of the planned illegality of this group, we wrote to INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) in a letter dated September 12 and received on September 13. “We stated that our party’s constitution provided that the National Secretary shall cause to be issued a notice of meetings of the National Convention, National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Working Committee (NWC) in consultation with and approval of the National Chairman as contained in Article 15(4)(b) 2014 constitution of our party. “The man (Omotosho) laying claim to be the new National Chairman is not a member of Labour Party. Though he came to contest election under the party sometimes ago but he never paid for nomination form or anything and since then after the election in 2015 we never saw him again,”‎ he said.

UK insists Nigerian government did not ask them to shut down Radio Biafra

The United Kingdom has denied receiving any request from the Nigerian government to shut down Radio Biafra. On Wednesday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, told State House correspondents that despite all the damage done by the Nnamdi Kanu-owned station, the British government was allowing it to continue to operate. “Who does not know that the IPOB internal radio is located in London? We know the diplomatic moves we have been taking and approaching the UK, all the damages it (Radio Biafra) has done, but they don’t see it that way, for them (the British government), it is about freedom of expression,” Mohammed said. However, the British High Commission, in a statement by its Press & Public Affairs Officer, Joe Abuku, said: “The UK is not aware of any representation from the Nigerian government about Radio Biafra. “Were we to receive any such request, we would of course consider it carefully on the basis of the available evidence, recognising that freedom of speech and expression carries responsibilities.”
